BUHLER, Kan. – The Hays Eagles Senior American Legion split their first two games at the Next Level Showcase at Buhler High School. The Eagles beat the Wichita Sluggers 3-0 then lost 14-2 in a five inning run-rule game with the Aeros.
Grant Coffman threw a complete game shutout, striking out five and walking three while allowing four hits in the first game against the Wichita Sluggers. The Eagles scored two in the second on a bases loaded walk to Willie Sennett and a Dawson Harmon fly out. They added their third run on an error in the fourth.
Hays (1-1) scored two in the second inning on a Nick Fisher triple and Cole Murphy double. The Aeros then struck for nine in the fourth then five in fifth. Trey Riggs allowed eight runs (two earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
The Eagles play the Hutchinson Colts and 316 Elite Lienhard Saturday.
