Donald E. Ruegsegger

Donald E. Ruegsegger, age 95, passed away on April 5, 2017 at his home in Ankeny. He was born on April 12, 1922 in Greene Twp, Iowa Co., Iowa the son of Guido and Eliza Moffitt Ruegsegger.

He attended Parnell Schools in Parnell, Iowa. He was a proud veteran of the United Stated Army Air Corp having served during WWII in the Pacific Theater in the 24th Air Depot Group. He worked for Krause Plow in Hutchinson, KS; Lane Wells Oil Co. in Great Bend and Pratt, KS; and for the General Services Administration until retiring in 1982. From his high school years until 2016, Don was well-known for providing music for gatherings, passing on his love of singing and playing the guitar to numerous family members.

On Sept. 24, 1944, he married Marjorie “Darlene” Barricklow in Great Bend, KS. Don devoted 35 years caring for Darlene after her cancer diagnosis.

She preceded him in death on March 9, 2007.

He is survived by two sons, Royce Arthur Ruegsegger and his wife Corinne and Michael Ray Ruegsegger and his wife Lorraine; one daughter Pamela J Heilskov Zivley and her husband Bruce; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, and one sister.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 10, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, Kansas. There will be viewing and visitation at the cemetery at 1:00 prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Rescue League, Ankeny, Iowa.
