Eagles win streak snapped in loss to Russell at DCBC Tournament

DODGE CITY, Kan. – Russell scored two runs in the fifth inning to tie and one in the sixth to take the lead as they rallied for a 3-2 win over the Hays Eagles Senior American Legion at the opening day of the Dodge City Baseball Club Tournament at Cavalier Field.

The loss ends the Eagles 11 game win streak and comes a week after Hays swept a pair of doubleheaders against Russell.

Dawson Harmon’s two-run triple scored Cole Murphy and Braden Stauth in the second to give the Eagles (13-3) the early lead.

Russell (6-5) tied the game on RBI singles from Brady Dinkel and Tanner Rome in the fifth. They took the lead on Walker Braun’s two-out single to left that scored Cooper Pfanenstiel.

Cole Murphy allowed all three runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts and two walks and suffered the loss.

The Eagles play two more pool play games Saturday against the Hays Monarchs and the Butler County Cubs.
