EL DORADO, Kan. – Alex Lopez bounced back from his worst start of the season by pitching 7 1/3 shutout innings leading the Hays Larks to a 5-0 win over the El Dorado Broncos Tuesday night at McDonald Stadium.
Lopez (3-0), who allowed three hits with eight strike outs and no walks, has shutouts in all three of his wins this summer. Chad Smith and Tyler Starks both threw a scoreless inning to help the Larks (9-4, 9-3 Jayhawk League) to their sixth straight win.
Spencer Packard had three hits including a home run and a double and drove in two. His leadoff homer jump started a four-run fourth inning which broke a scoreless tie.
Trey Ochoa, Jonathan Soberanes and Jace Selsor also drove in runs as the Larks stay a game back of Liberal in the Jayhawk League standings.
