Hays Post

A roof was ripped off a double-wide trailer north of Hays Tuesday night.

The trailer was at the corner of Homestead Road and Highway 183, 11 miles north of Interstate 70.

Bill Ring, Ellis Public Works director, was filling in as Emergency Management director and went to investigate the scene.

He said a wind event caused damage to a vacant double-wide trailer and a nearby road sign, but left other nearby homes untouched.

He said a tornado was not observed and he was unsure if the damage could have been caused by a microburst or other wind event.

Hays reported .01 inches of rain, while Russel reported about a half-inch of rain as a result of the storm.

Trego County reported between .2 to a quarter-inch of rain.
