The first-ever Day of Action sponsored by the United Way of Ellis County (UWEC) was a resounding success.
According to Sherry Dryden, executive director of the United Way, more than 600 items were recently delivered by members of the Hays Rotary Club to the 13 partner agencies. The goal for this inaugural year was 150 items.
“These supplies will assist the agencies in areas of need,” Dryden said. Requests were made for office supplies, personal toiletries, diapers, children’s clothing, non-perishable food items, kids’ games and crafts, bottled water and other items.
Dryden said the new Day of Action was conducted in conjunction with the Fri., June 30 Pacesetter Kickoff, the companies that help give a financial boost to the United Way fundraising campaign.
Eagle Communications was the top donor among UWEC Pacesetter companies. Eagle Employee/Owners donated more than 200 items.
“The United Way of Ellis County and their 13 partner agencies wish to express gratitude to everyone in Ellis County who donated supplies during the Day of Action week,” she said.
The official 2017 campaign kickoff is August 25 with a community kickoff the next day on August 26.
