According to a recently released health rankings study, Ellis County is one of the healthiest counties in comparison to others in Kansas.
The study, compiled by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, is based off of a multitude of factors including smoking, inactivity, obesity, rate of uninsured, physical environment and social/economic factors.
Ellis County ranks 4th in the state overall with surrounding counties ranking less healthy according to the study. Trego County is 69th, Rooks is 74th, Russell is 79th, and Rush County is 41st.
Riley County and Johnson County are the two healthiest counties according to the study.
