LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Fort Hays State volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year, announced Monday (July 24) by the association. It is the third-straight year the Tigers earned this distinction. The Tigers were one of 118 programs in NCAA Division II to earn the award.
The award honors teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average. The Tigers finished with a team GPA of 3.32 for this past academic year. Fort Hays State was one of eight schools from the MIAA to earn the distinction, with Central Missouri, Central Oklahoma, Emporia State, Missouri Southern, Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri and Pittsburg State also earning the honor.
