
The Fort Hays State softball team saw their losing skid continue on Friday afternoon (April 6) at Tiger Stadium against No. 4 Central Oklahoma. The Tigers hung with the Bronchos in both games, but were unable to push across any runs, falling by scores of 1-0 and 5-0. Fort Hays State is now 20-14 on the year and they have now dropped seven consecutive games.

Game 1: #4 Central Oklahoma 1, Fort Hays State 0
The Tigers had chances early in the first game to get on the board, but stranded a pair of runners in both the first and second innings. While FHSU was unable to manage much offense, the pitching of Maddie HolubĀ and the Tiger defense kept the game close throughout.
Holub pitched a complete game and set a new single-season school record for strikeouts in the top of the first inning. She struck out six for the game, giving her 196 for the year, but allowed the lone run on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. She took the tough loss, dropping her record to 11-8 on the season.
Fort Hays State recorded four hits in the game, with all of them coming in the games first three innings. Central Oklahoma outhit the Tigers 6-4 and both teams stranded six runners on base. The Tigers did have some nice plays defensively, including a diving catch by centerfielder Amanda Vaupel to end a Broncho rally in the second.

Game 2: #4 Central Oklahoma 5, Fort Hays State 0
The FHSU offense was unable to get their offense on track in the second game either, recording just three hits and again being shutout.
Central Oklahoma got on the board with two runs in both the third and fifth innings and added an insurance run in the sixth against Tiger pitcher Katilyn Shattleroe. Shattleroe pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and three runs. The decision drops her record to 7-3 on the year.
Fort Hays State will host Northeastern State on Saturday afternoon (April 7) starting at 12:00 pm.
