Just one month ago, Downtown Hays Development Corporation (DHDC) had the honor to help host the second annual Thunder on the Bricks Car Show.
The event started on Friday, July 21, with a police-escorted cruise to our historic Main Street on The Bricks. Over 60 vehicles dragged Main just like in the ol’ days. The drivers and community members then danced the night away with live music from the Jimmy Dee band.
Saturday morning the fun continued with the registration of over 270 entries, an increase from the year before.
DHDC wants to thank each volunteer, sponsor, entry, vendor, and spectator who came out to be a part of this special event. The goal was to create a family orientated event in downtown Hays and to be able to give back to the community.
DHDC is excited to announce that the majority of the profits from the show, a sum of $4,200, will be given to local charities and organizations in Hays including Cancer Council of Ellis County, Big Brothers Big Sisters, NCK Tech Automotive Technology Program, Hays VFW, Hospice, and Habitat for Humanity.
