FHSU volleyball tunes up for start of season with scrimmage

HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State volleyball team got their final tune-up before the start of their season with the annual Black & Gold Scrimmage at Gross Coliseum Wednesday night. Freshman Logan Wallick led the Tigers with 19 kills and fellow freshman Amirah Bentley had 27 digs as the Gold team beat the Black 3-2. Three of the five sets were decided by three points or less.

Head coach Kurt Kohler, who begins his ninth season, has 14 freshman on his roster.

The Tigers, who are coming off a 25-win season a year ago, open their season a week from Friday at the Country Inn & Suites Invitational in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
