Fredrick Parker Ruda

Fred Ruda, 67, Hays, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 of injuries from an automobile accident near Dodge City, Kansas.

Fred was born September 25, 1944 in Colby Kansas to Joseph A Ruda and Eilleen (Parker) Ruda. He married Sherrill Sexson on April 4, 1970. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He was chairman of the Industrial Technology department at Fort Hays State University for 33 years. In 1972 he received his Masters degree from Fort Hays State University. Five years later in 1977 he received his Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #6984, the Bishop Cunningham Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and an active member of the educational organization ITEA.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years Sherrill, daughter Karrie Millershaski and her husband Bruce of Montezuma, Kansas, son Troy and his wife Lisa, of Thornton, CO., four grandchildren, Hannah Millershaski, Keith Millershaski, Madison Ruda and Ethan Ruda; sisters, Judy Fisher of McDonald, Kansas and her husband A.B., Jean Habrukowich, Somerset, New Jersey and her husband Phil; brothers, Art Ruda, Centerville, Georgia and his wife Sherron, Don Ruda, Ness City, Kansas and his wife Susan, Alan Ruda, Perth, Australia and his wife Marilyn. He is preceded in death by his mother Eilleen Ruda, father Joseph Ruda, and a sister Letitia “ Tish” Anderson and her husband John.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial with military honors by the the U. S. Army Funeral Detail from Junction City will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays. On Thursday friends may call at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church , 18th and Vine from 5-8 p.m. There will be a combined rosary service at 6:00 p.m. of the Perpetual Adorers, Daughters of Isabella, VFW Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus, both 3rd and 4th degrees. Memorials have been established with Holy Family Elementary Catholic School and the Fort Hays State University Scholarship fund in Fred Ruda’s name. Eleanor Sexson

Eleanor Sexson, age 90, of Hays died Sunday, April 8, 2012, of injuries from an automobile accident near Dodge City, Kansas.

Eleanor was born December 1, 1921, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, to John Peter and Elizabeth (Arnold) Younger. She married Keith E. Sexson on June 7, 1943, in Fort Ord, California. He died April 8, 2001. She was a caregiver and homemaker. She served her country with the U. S. Navy. Eleanor was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Perpetual Adorers, and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her sons, Keith, Jr. “Skip” and his wife, Elaine of Pratt, KS., Charles “Chuck” and his wife, Jennifer of Topeka, KS., and Mark and his wife, Kathy of Garden City, KS., daughters, Sherrill Ruda of Hays and Caroleana Greiser of Plano, Texas; brother, Bernard Younger of Commerce City, Colorado; sister, Virginia Donnell of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, August, Fred, and Richard Younger; sisters, Mary Harrison, Pauline Miles, Agnes Firkus, Catherine Sexson, Nellie Meier, Minnie Waldschmidt, Josey Gerstner, and Rose Younger.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial with military honors by the U. S. Armand D. Gingles

Logan resident, Armand D. Gingles, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas at the age of 87. He was born Dec. 29, 1924 in Speed, KS to Frank & Hazel (Klink) Gingles. His son, Leland, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva, of the home; three daughters: Rhonda Schurz and Vonda Gottschalk, both of Logan, KS and Tamara Johnson of Hutchinson, KS; one sister, Arloa Clarke of Corydon, IA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John’s Catholic Church in Logan, KS. Interment will follow in the Belmont Cemetery, Phillips County, with military honors by Fort Riley.

Mr. Gingles will lie in-state Wednesday from 5 – 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. –
9 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home in Logan, with the family receiving friends Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to Logan E.M.S. or the Logan Volunteer Fire Department.
