While nearly an inch of rain was in the gauge in Hays from a heavy early morning rain Monday, the Ellis area received much more of a downpour.
There were multiple reports of rainfall in excess of 4 inches as of 8 a.m. Monday morning, with several other exceeding 3 inches.
Trego and Rush counties also were in the path of the heavy rain. A report southeast of WaKeeney showed more than 3 inches in the gauge this morning, and there was a report of 3.27 inches just north of La Crosse.
Rain exceeding 2 inches also fell throughout Sheridan County, while western Russell County received just more than a half inch. The eastern portion of the county received just trace amounts of precipitation.
In Hays, the rain resulted in flooded streets during the Monday morning commute.
