KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State senior kicker Brandon Brown earned MIAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this year on Monday (Sept. 25) for his efforts in the 31-7 win over Northeastern State this past Saturday. It is the third time in Brown’s career at FHSU he has earned the honor.
Brown converted a 54-yard field goal in the first quarter to give Fort Hays State a 10-0 lead in the eventual 31-7 win. The field goal was the third-longest in school history. His only miss was a 57-yard attempt later that had the distance, but missed just to the left. It was his only miss of the season so far. Brown was a perfect 4-of-4 on extra-point attempts. So far this year, Brown is 4-of-5 on field goal attempts and 19-of-19 on extra-point tries.
Brown joins Zach Martin of Northwest Missouri State (Offensive Athlete of the Week) and Austin Miller of Central Missouri (Defensive Athlete of the Week) as the weekly honorees from the MIAA.
