A 23-year-old man was arrested this week after a Hays woman reported a sexual assault in northwest Hays.

According to the Hays Police Department, Hunter Gonzales was arrested after the alleged sexual assault occurred between 11:30 p.m. Monday and 12:04 a.m. Tuesday in the 4500 block of Larned Circle.

The victim provided the name of the suspect, according to the Hays PD, leading to Gonzales’ arrest. He was arrested on suspicion of rape and aggravated criminal sodomy.

Gonzales is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
