Boys: TMP 94, Life Prep 48
HAYS, Kan.-TMP started Saturday morning’s game on an 8-0 run and added a 9-0 run all in the first quarter and took control early. The Monarchs led 26-10 after the first quarter and pushed their lead to as many as 31 points and led 52-23 at half.
TMP continued to put points on the board early and led by as many as 39 points in the third quarter and held a 70-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter. TMP had a 24 point fourth quarter and picked up a big 94-48 win. Creighton Renz led five Monarchs in double figures with 20, Michael Lager 16, Trenton Mayo 15, Luke Ruder 14 and David McFarland 13.
The Monarchs improve to 1-2 on the year and are off until Friday night when they will host Hill City at Al Billinger Fieldhouse.
BOYS HIGHLIGHTS
Girls: TMP 66, Olathe North 29
The TMP and Olathe North girls battled hard in the fourth place game of the 35th Annual Hays City Shootout. The two teams went back and forth with TMP holding a slight, 11-10, lead after one. The Lady Monarchs started to pull away in the second quarter. After trailing 14-13 they closed the quarter on an 18-4 run to take the 31-18 lead at the half.
TMP blew the game open in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Eagles 19-4 to take a 50-22 lead heading to the fourth. The Lady Monarch defense continued to give Olathe North fits in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles turned the ball over seven times. TMP finished the game in style winning 66-29.
