Free FROSTFEST Holiday Craft Fun at the Hays Arts Council!
Join us this Saturday (Dec. 16) from 3 to 5pm for a children’s arts and crafts “open house” to be held in the Hays Arts Center Annex at 1010 Main St. – in honor of the creative & giving legacy of our friend JAN WALTERS.
Jan was an arts advocate, arts educator, and active member of the Hays Arts Council, especially during its earlier years – teaching summer youth arts classes, serving on Smoky Hill exhibition committees, and contributing to arts outreach experiences for students. Many of those were during her tenure as arts instructor for Kennedy Middle School, where she was an outstanding educator who nurtured and expanded the creative experiences and skills of her students.
Jan passed away in July and the HAC was honored to be the recipient of generous memorial gifts in her name. We think she would appreciate our using some of those funds for this holiday family arts and crafts open house.
We will have hot cocoa, candy canes and 4 different (easy!) craft stations…all before the downtown prize giveaway & Frostfest Parade. So, come join us if you’re out & about!
