The 43rd annual Smoky Hill Art Exhibition Opening and Spring Gallery Walk is this weekend in Hays. Twenty-six downtown locations will host work by Kansas artists.
Even the alley behind the Hays Arts Council will be filled with “Doortraiture, ” a multi-artist installation under the direction of Gordon Sherman and Joel Dugan. Sherman and some of his Fort Hays State University students were hard at work Friday afternoon, readying the locale between 10th and 11th Streets. The exhibit will also include sculpture by Stacey Rathert.
The gallery walk is Friday night from 6:30 t0 9:30. About half of the locations will also be open Saturday. There is no charge to attend.
This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Ann Jeter, a former president of the Hays Arts Council.
