Fort Hays State University’s Nathan Shepherd will miss the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday due to a broken hand suffered in day two of practice.
The good news for Fort Hays State DT Nathan Shepherd, a Senior Bowl standout before breaking his hand today: It’s a second metacarpal spiral fracture, source said. No surgery. Heal in 2-3 weeks. Should be ready for most drills at the combine.

Despite the setback, Shepherd managed to impress many reporters and scouts that attended the two days of practice.

Pretty bummed that Fort Hays State DL Nathan Shepherd got hurt (hand). Had a great talk with him on Tuesday and he was impressing before he was injured. Great story of a guy whose chip on his shoulder sits in plain sight. Attitude you want for a DL.
