Group giving Kansas National Guard member new vehicle

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – A Kansas National Guard member who lost his vehicle in the tornado that ripped through Reading (REH’-ding) is getting a replacement, thanks to a charitable organization.

Master Sgt. Jeffrey Norling, a member of the Kansas Air National Guard, is getting his new vehicle Wednesday from Cars 4 Heroes at a ceremony in Topeka. Norling’s home was destroyed in the May 21 tornado, which killed one person.

Norling is a member of the 190th Air Refueling Wing at Forbes Field and works full time as a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper. Cars 4 Heroes is a project of Cars 4 Christmas, a not-for-profit organization that provides free basic transportation to disadvantaged individuals and veterans.
