TMP-Marian baseball cruises to sweep of Sacred Heart

SALINA, Kan. – The TMP-Marian baseball team only played six innings Monday and scored 35 runs on 26 hits as they cruise past Sacred Heart 19-0 and 16-1 in a pair of games called after three innings by run-rule.

The Monarchs struck for eight in the first inning in the opener. Tate Garcia, Gavin Schumacher and Luke Ruder all drove in three. Ruder homered. Cole Zimmerman allowed one hit with six strikeouts and a walk.

TMP scored seven in the first in the second game. Chase Werth homered and drove in two. He also struck out three without allowing a hit in two innings. Tate Garcia pitched the third and also struck out three.

The Monarchs have won five straight and improve to 13-1. They are in Goodland for a doubleheader Thursday.
