GOODLAND, Kan. – The TMP-Marian baseball team ran their win streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep in Goodland. The Monarchs scored four in the fourth and raced out to 5-1 lead in the first game and held to win 5-4. They then scored three in the second, fourth and fifth innings and took the second contest 9-2.
Chase Werth, Cole Zimmerman and Creighton Renz combined on a two-hitter in the first game. Trenton Mayo doubled and drove in two. Tate Garcia had two hits and knocked in a run.
Werth and Gavin Schumacher both had two RBIs in the second game. Tate Garcia didn’t allow an earned runs on two hits over four innings for the win. Trenton Mayo pitched three hitless inning of relief for the save.
The Monarchs are now 15-1 and off until next Thursday when they travel to Colby.
