Hilaria “Larry” Windholz

Victoria, Kansas – Hilaria “Larry” Windholz, age 101, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Prairie Haven Nursing Home at Kensington, Kansas. She was born November 12, 1910, in Emmeram, Kansas, to Joseph M. and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Kuhn. She married Anselm “Scotty” Windholz on November 23, 1936, at Emmeram, Kansas. He died January 22, 2000.

She was a wall paper installer/hanger in the Ellis and Russell County area for over 40 years. She installed the last mural of “St. Fidelis” above the altar at the “Cathedral of The Plains” St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria, Kansas. She retired in the late 1970’s. She attended school in Emmeram, Kansas. She enjoyed cooking, baking bread, making noodles, her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church and Christian Mothers both of Victoria, Kansas.

Survivors include one daughter, Gladys Wickham and husband, William, Phillipsburg, KS; one brother, Francis Kuhn and wife, Mary Jane, Victoria, KS; two sisters, Leona Rohleder and Martina Bieker, both of Hays, KS; one sister-in-law, Laurina Kuhn, Hays, KS; four grandchildren, William Wickham II and wife, Shari, Galen Wickham and wife, Jaque, Shelley Wickham and husband, Ryan Bandt, and Sonja Wickham; six great grandchildren, Garrett Wickham, Gabriel Wickham, Jaci Wickham, Grant Wickham, Lexi Wickham and Rylie Bandt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Gracie Windholz; six brothers, Raymond, John, Leo, Eugene, Joseph F. and Clarence Kuhn; two infant brothers, Conrad Edwin Kuhn and Anton Edwin Kuhn; five sisters, Dena Riedel, Margaret Dinkel, Delphina Copp, Mary Brungardt and Lillian Windholz. Services are 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, Kansas. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Emmeram, Kansas.

A vigil service is at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday followed by St. Fidelis Christian Mothers rosary at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday both at Cline’s Mortuary 412 Main Street Victoria, Kansas 67671. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 A.M. Wednesday all at Cline’s Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas. Memorials to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund or Hospice Services of Phillipsburg.
