The Fort Hays State men’s track and field team qualified four Tigers in five events for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Jordan Carlisle, Tim McElroy, Brett Ottley and Mark RiordanĀ all made the field for the championships, which are held May 24-26 in Pueblo, Colo.
Riordan, a sophomore from Solomon, Kan., made the champions in two events, the long jump and triple jump. He is No. 13 in the triple jump with his best mark of 49-7.25 from the Fort Hays State Open on April 28. In the long jump, Riordan is No. 19 with his mark of 24-1.5 at the MIAA Championships.
McElroy, a senior from Logan, Kan., advanced in the hammer throw. He ranks No. 14 after his season-best throw of 197-10 at the Alex Francis Classic on March 23. He hit a provisional mark six times this season in the hammer throw for the Tigers.
Carlisle, a freshman from St. Joseph, Mo., is the No. 16 seed in the high jump. He went 6-10.75 at the FHSU Open on April 28 to get in the field.
Ottley, a sophomore from Victoria, Kan., is in the field in the pole vault. His season-best height of 16-2 at the MIAA Championships puts him No. 11 in the pole vault.
The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships start on May 24 in Pueblo, Colo., hosted by CSU-Pueblo at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.
