FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating several shooting incidents that occurred Saturday in Finney County and have made two arrests according to the sheriff’s department.
The first incident involved a suspect or suspects shooting at another vehicle on Highway 50 between 3rd street and Campus Drive in Garden City, according to the sheriff’s department.
One victim was wounded, transported to St Catherine’s Hospital and died.
A possible suspect or suspects was identified and after using obtaining a search warrant, authorities arrested a suspect Sunday, according to the sheriff’s department.
During a second incident in the 2500 block of West Jones Street where 2 victims were shot. They were treated at St Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City for their injuries.
While investigating the second incident, sheriff’s deputies became involved with a vehicle pursuit with a subject shooting at the deputies.
The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned on west River Road approximately 2 miles east of the Kearney County line in the area of Klotz Sand Company.
Officers from the Garden City police Department, Finney County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol searched for and arrested a suspect. It is unknown if he is involved in the other shootings.
Deputies did not released the name of the suspect or additional details.
