Ellis County was hit again by rain a day after a storm caused flash flooding in the northeast part of the county.

The county was under a flood advisory until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Bill Ring, public works director, said some barricades in the county were still up from Modnay’s flooding.

County crews were out this morning checking routes for further flooding or damage.

No major damage was found from Monday’s flooding, although water was over roads in a number of places in the northeast part of the county.

Some shoulders had washed out, but Ring said they will be easy to repair.

Hays received 1.63 inches of rain this morning, as of this report. It received only a trace Monday.

The K-State Extension Ag Center reported 1.42 inches for the last 24 hours, 5.14 inches for the month of July.
