SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a hit and run accident and have made an arrest.

Just after 2:15p.m. Sunday, police responded to an injury accident in the 3300 Block of South Clifton in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.
When officers arrived, they located a 6-year-old girl and her 37-year-old mother who had been struck by a 2007 Chrysler SUV. Both were transported to a local hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Davidson.
Investigators learned that the woman was involved in a verbal disturbance with her 18-year-old former boyfriend at a nearby residence. As the woman and her daughter walked from the residence, the vehicle hit them. The suspect then fled from the SUV on foot and it was believed he was in a residence nearby, according to Davidson.
The Wichita Police SWAT team responded to the residence. Police in Kechi later located the suspect during a traffic stop in the 6500 Block of North Hillside. The suspect identified as Carlos Flores, according to the Sedgwick County Booking report, was taken into custody without incident and booked for attempted murder, aggravated kidnapping and outstanding warrants, according to Davidson.
Flores has a previous conviction for criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
