Lady Indian volleyball sweeps three in Dodge

DODGE CITY, Kan-It took the Hays High Lady Indians a few points to knock the rust off as they opened their season with a quad on the road in Dodge City. The Lady Indians took set one from Sublette 25-17 and dominated set two with a 25-8 win to secure the match two sets to none. Tasiah Nunnery led Hays High with 13 kills. Hannah McGuire and Brooklyn Schaffer tied for a team high 12 assists and Kallie Leiker had eight digs.

Match two against Western Athletic Conference foe Dodge City proved to be much of the same with the Lady Indians controlling the whole match winning in straight sets 25-18, 25-19. Nunnery paced the team with 13 kills, McGuire six assists and Leiker eight digs.

The closing match for Hays High was a tale of two sets against the Lakin Broncs. Hays won the opening set 25-11 but were really tested in the second set as Lakin took them to the wire with the Lady Indians coming out on top 25-23 and winning the match in two sets. Nunnery led with 11 kills and had 37 kills on the night. McGuire paced the Lady Indians with 14 assists and had 32 for the evening. Savannah Schneider led the way with seven digs in the final match.

Hays High improves to 3-0 on the season. Their next action will be on Saturday at the Valley Center Tournament.
