Roger D. Wetter

Roger D. Wetter, 67, died at his home in Norton, Kansas on September 10, 2018. He was born March 26, 1951 in Norton, Kansas to George and Zeta (Nusse) Wetter. Roger was raised on the family farm three miles east and a mile north of Norton along with his brother and two sisters. He attended Frog Pond County School and Norton Elementary and High School graduating with the class of 1970. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He married Lynnette Staab on October 14, 1978 in Hays, Kansas. They made their home in Norton and were blessed with one son, Jeremy.

Roger held a few odd jobs before going to work for New Age where he worked as a welder from 1983 to 2017. He had to quit working due to poor health. Besides working at New Age, he had a lawn service for many years mowing 20 or more lawns. He worked very hard and long hours to provide for his family.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and Norton American Legion Post #63. In his limited spare time, he liked to collect baseball caps and ink pens. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, but most of all he loved being with his wife and son. They were the loves of his life and the most important people in his life. There was nothing he would not do for them.

Roger is survived by his son, Jeremy Wetter of Norton, Kansas; brother Edwin A. Wetter of Oxford, Nebraska; sister, Caron Wetter of Limon, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lynnette Wetter; parents, H. George and Zeta Wetter; and a sister Laura Sweeley.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Saturday, September 15, 2018, 10:00 A.M. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton, Kansas. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery immediately following the Service. Visitation will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin, Kansas, from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. and from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall, and family will be receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. in the Parish Hall on Friday, September 14, 2018. Family suggests memorials to the Roger D. Wetter Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Pauls Funeral Home, 121 N. Penn Ave., Oberlin, Kansas 67749.

Roger has gone home to join his loving wife. He would ask that you think of him when you are lonely and see his smile. His pain is gone forever, and God has taken away his fears. Know that God will send you a happy memory of him when you are sad.
