HAYS – The Hoisington Cardinals took advantage of several big plays in the first half on their way to a 42-0 win over the TMP-Marian Monarchs Friday at Lewis Field Stadium.
It took the Cardinals just six offensive plays to build a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.
Hoisington forced the Monarchs into three-and-outs on their first three possessions and scored on just two plays each time.
Hoisington got a 37 yard touchdown run from Xavier Robinson, a 58 yard TD run from Wyatt Pedigo and a 15 yards TD run from Braxton Donovan to build the 21-0 lead through one quarter.
Hoisington added three more second quarter scored to build a 42-0 halftime lead and with a running clock in the second half they would go on to win by that score.
Wyatt Pedigo lead all players with 159 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. He also added three receptions for 50 yards and one score. Cardinals quarterback Derek Boxberger finished 7-for-12 for 129 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception.
The Monarchs were led by Kaleb Hagans who finished with 43 yards on 14 carries.

Hoisington improves to 3-1 and will host Ellsworth next week.
TMP falls to 1-3 and will travel to Phillipsburg on Friday.
