When the Victoria School District made the financial decision to move the seventh and eighth grades to the high school and the sixth grade to the elementary, it left an empty building. That building has now been sold to a family trust for $25,000. Superintendent Linda Kenne says the building is worth more that the agreed upon price, but selling schools is difficult because of the layout.
The buyer is talking about using the building for a variety of public and private purposes.
Kenne says with losing about $250,000 a year from state cuts, the consolidation was necessary, and it went very well.
