Big Inning Costs Larks in First Loss of the Season

For the first time all season, the wheels fell off for the Hays Larks. Up 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 8th, they give up 11 runs, 10 of them with two outs, and lose in El Dorado 11-5 for their first loss of the summer.

Justin Ziegler allowed just a 2nd inning single through the first seven innings, but gives up six runs on four hits in the 8th and takes the loss. He’s now 1-1.

Nebraska’s Austin Darby drove in three of the four runs for the Larks with a homer and an RBI single. He also doubled.

Claudio Valencia gave the Larks an early 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the 2nd.

The Larks (7-1, 4-1 Jayhawk League) are back at home Tuesday for a two-game series with Liberal in the first game of a 10-day, nine-game homestand.
