Sufficient surface moisture in place over central Kansas will create heat indices of 105 degrees or higher this afternoon. Each successive day after Thursday will be not quite as hot, as the upper ridge weakens slightly.

A weak upper trough rotating through the high plains could bring isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms to parts of the region late Friday or Friday evening.
