Sacred Heart wins Ellis Golf Regional; Plainville and Trego both qualify for state

ELLIS, Kan. – Sacred Heart a team score of 299 to win the Ellis 2A Regional Golf Tournament Monday at the Ellis Golf Club. The Knights finished 35 strokes ahead of Plainville and Trego who tied for second. Both qualify for next Monday’s 1A State Tournament at the Hesston Golf Park.

The Knights Tate Herrenbruck and Kamerson Shaw both finished at 2-under-par 69 to claim the top two spots. Plainville’s Parker Krob finished third with a 71 while teammate Tanner Copeland was fourth with a 74.

Dalton Mai was the top golfer for Trego, claiming fifth place with a 75. Dillon Dunn and Carter Minson both had rounds of 80 and were part of a four-way tie for seventh ninth place.

Brady Frickey of Ellis shot an 81 to just finish outside the top-10 but qualifies for the state tournament as an individual.
