Bill Wright

Bill Wright, 89, lifelong Sherman County farmer, passed away on June 14, 2019 in Lone Tree, Colorado after a short illness.

Bill was born on October 26, 1929 in Goodland, Kansas to Raymond and Ida Wright. Bill’s grandparents homesteaded and the family farmed north of Kanorado for over 120 years. Bill married Dorothy Nagel in 1947, and to this union four children; Janet, Christine, Cynthia and Douglas were born. In 1976, Bill and Mildred “Millie” Rasure were married and shared a “blended” family, adding Kevin and Randy.

Bill loved farming, watching his kids play sports and flying airplanes. He was very active in the Kanorado and Goodland communities, serving on various boards and winning numerous farming awards. Bill was especially involved in the sugar beet industry, raising beets for over 20 years. Bill semi-retired from farming in 2005, and he and Millie moved to their home in Goodland. In 2017, Bill moved to Wheat Ridge Acres, and very much enjoyed his new extended family there.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ida, infant sister Katherine and sisters Marjorie Pizel and Joyce Burd, wife Millie, and a son-in-law George (Cynthia) Logan.

He is survived by a brother, Jack (Connie) Wright of La Crescenta, CA, his children Janet (Russ) Sammons of Littleton, CO, Chris (Joe) Blackwell of Palmer Lake, CO, Cynthia Logan of Vorhees, NJ and Doug (Melanie) Wright of Las Vegas, NV, two step children Kevin (Kim) Rasure of Goodland, KS and Randy Rasure of Lake Arial, Pennsylvania. Included in this group is Christie Rasure, considered a 4th sister and an invaluable asset in Bill’s journey through his ‘seasoned citizen’ years. Bill is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren of his own, as well as 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren from his ‘blended’ family, and numerous nieces and nephews.
