Lois Floydine Fredrickson was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Oberlin to Floyd and Lavina Mae (Van Pelt) Fredrickson.
She passed away Aug. 19, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society of Decatur County in Oberlin at the age of 90.
Lois attended school in Oberlin, graduating from Decatur Community High School with the class of 1948.
On Sept. 5, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Donald Fredrickson in Oberlin, where they made their home. To this union two children were born; they were also blessed with four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Don and Lois owned and operated Don’s Super Market for 38 years. Lois worked along side of Don for many years. She was the bookkeeper but also filled in wherever needed.
Lois was a member of the United Church of Oberlin, United Church Women, was a charter member of the Zeta Nu Club, and the Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying her grandchildren’s activities and KU basketball. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in their school activities. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
Lois is survived by her children and their spouses: Kristi and Gene Gallentine of Clayton and Brad and Gayle Fredrickson of Kansas City; four grandchildren: Jason and Leia Gallentine, Kelsey and Caleb Peters, Cole and Angie Fredrickson and Carissa and William Sanders; 10 great-grandchildren: Kiera and Clayton Gallentine, Macie and Brannen Peters, Grace, Gable, Julia, and Gavin Fredrickson, Metabel and Clara Sanders, and brother-in-law, Doyle Fredrickson, along with other relatives.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; sisters: Capitola (Bill) Warren, Norene (Howard) Plummer, Patty (Lemoin) Landau, Doris (Charles Watson and Virgil) McKenzie; brothers-in-law, Robert (Lucille) Fredrickson, Ralph (Helen) Fredrickson and sisters-in-law, June (Darren) Schneider, and Joan Fredrickson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at Pauls Funeral Home, Oberlin. Burial will follow at Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2019 at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
