Fort Hays State played to a scoreless draw at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan., on Sunday evening. The teams opted to play overtime, but neither team could find the net after 110 minutes. Kansas Wesleyan is ranked No. 23 in the preseason NAIA national rankings.
Nicole Barnaba played the first half in goal, then Rachel Schnaad entered and kept the Coyotes from scoring in the second half and overtime. Schaad had nine of the 12 saves between the two goalkeepers.
Fort Hays State put seven shots on goal. Six were saved by Emily Tielrooy, who played the entire game in goal for KWU. Kansas Wesleyan doubled up Fort Hays State in shots for the game, 24-12.
Fort Hays State finished 2-0-1 in its exhibition contests. The season begins on Friday, August 31 on the road at UC-Colorado Springs, then the Lady Tigers stop in Pueblo, Colo., two days later for a match with CSU-Pueblo. The first regular season home contest is on September 5 against McPherson College.
