Routine Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust, Search Across Multiple Area Counties

A routine traffic stop in Russell County led to multiple arrests for suspected drug trafficking and a wide scale search for additional suspects.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, around 8:30 am Wednesday, authorities pulled over a vehicle in Russell County which lead to the discovery of drugs. Upon questioning the suspects, authorities learned of the possible involvement of another group traveling in a different vehicle.

After a search that expanded into multiple counties, authorities located the other suspects in Ellsworth County.

The suspects were taken into custody and transported back to Russell County for questioning.

Their identities, and the amount or type of drugs involved have yet to be released.
