You’ve no doubt seen “I’m Farming and I Grow It,” the YouTube music video parody made by the Peterson brothers of Assaria. It’s gone viral, with more than 7-million hits since it debuted June 25.
Greg Peterson, a K-State senior double-majoring in ag journalism and music, put an agricultural spin on LMFAO’s hit song, “I’m Sexy And I Know It.” He had help from his two brothers, Nathan and Kendal, and sister Laura. Even mom Marla shot some video of work on their farming and ranching operation in Saline County.
Linda Beech, the Ellis County K-State Extension Family and Consumer Sciences agent, is also from Assaria and knows the family well.
“They’re fourth-generation Kansas farmers. All the Petersons are very active in the Assaria community, 4-H, and in their church. Everybody knows them and thinks they’re a great family,” she says.
The boys’ father, David, was Linda’s classmate, and “my first boyfriend who gave me my first kiss, ” she confides with a laugh. “We spent a lot of time together.”
The Peterson Farm Bros will be making appearances and signing autographs this weekend and September 15 at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson.
