There were a few extra tractors at Carrico Implement in Hays Saturday, and they were not for sale.
In fact, these tractors are old, and most are collectors items, brought in for Carrico’s third annual Old Iron Classic Antique Tractor Show.
John Dreiling of Hays, and his dad have been collecting and restoring tractors for30 years. “We have about 32 tractors; most are John Deere, a few Massey. My dad was born in 1931, and walked behind horses. My grandpa drove a John Deere D, ” says Dreiling. “I just like to keep the heritage going.”
After getting some driving tips from her dad, Dreiling’s 7-year-old daughter Nicole won second-place in the “Slow-Poke” race atop the family’s John Deere 60.
The event was also a celebration of the John Deere company’s 175th anniversary.
