
The Hays Larks lose their fourth straight road game Tuesday night, falling 5-2 to the first-place Haysville Heat.
The Larks struck first, scoring on a Cody Gougler double in the first but were then held hitless until Rick Stover’s homer in the eighth.
Haysville took the lead with two in the bottom of the first then tacked on single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Kirk Jewasko allowed all five runs on ten hits over five innings and falls to 2-3 with the loss. Aaron Cornell doubled and scored in the first inning to extend his hit streak to 22 games.
The Larks are now 19-12 and 13-10 in the Jayhawk League where they are tied for third with Derby, two games back. Game two of the three-game set is Wednesday night in Haysville.
