This is World Space Week, and some local rocket enthusiasts started celebrating early.
Saturday afternoon Fort Hays State University hosted a community-wide rocket launch at the west side of the Ellis County Fairgrounds.
An exhibit of NASA posters from the 1970s and ‘80s is on display this week at the FHSU Forsyth Library. Visitors can also check out some space shuttle tiles, as well as space food.
World Space Week was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999 “to celebrate each year at the international level the contributions of space science and technology to the betterment of the human condition.”
