The Kansas Department of Agriculture has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the department’s request to allow corn containing more than 20 parts per billion of aflatoxin to be blended with corn with lower levels or no aflatoxin to be used for animal feed.
Kansas Agriculture Secretary Dale Rodman says due to the drought some corn being harvested has increased amounts of aflatoxin, but some still has lower levels.
Prior to blending any corn, the blending firm must complete a compliance certification form and submit the completed form to the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
