FHSU Men’s Soccer up to No. 17 in NSCAA Poll

The Fort Hays State men’s soccer team moved up one spot to No. 17 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer National Poll, announced by the NSCAA today (Oct. 9). In the Central Region rankings, FHSU regained the No. 1 spot after being No. 2 last week.

The Tigers, who are ranked for the sixth straight week, went 0-1-1 last week in two non-conference matches, including a 2-2 tie against then-No. 11 West Texas A&M in Hays. FHSU lost 2-0 to Eastern New Mexico in its other match of the week. With the 0-1-1 week, the Tigers are now 8-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State also moved up in the Central Region rankings, going from No. 2 to No. 1. Lindenwood, which was No. 1 in last week’s rankings, dropped to No. 3 after falling to Oakland City, 1-0, during the week. Northeastern State moved to No. 2. Before last week, FHSU ranked No. 1 for the first four weeks of the region rankings. Truman, which the Tigers play this weekend, is No. 4 and Ouachita Baptist ranks No. 5.

The Tigers are the highest ranked MIAA school at No. 17. Northeastern State is the only other ranked MIAA team at No. 25. Lindenwood received votes in the poll.

FHSU starts a four-match road trip this weekend, going to Truman on Thursday (Oct. 11) and Upper Iowa on Friday (Oct. 12). Both matches start at 3 p.m.
