Ryan’s 3-run Homer Lifts Larks Past Greeley

Jon Ryan's 3-run home run in the bottom of the 9th lifted the Hays Larks to a 7-4 win over the Greeley (Colo.) Grays.

Jon Ryan’s towering 3-run homer down the right field line with two outs in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Hays Larks to a 7-4 come-from-behind win over the Greeley (Colo.) Grays Saturday night at Larks Park. The home run capped a four-run rally with two outs. Cody Gougler single and scored the tying run on Brandon Dixon’s double to left.  Andrew Heck, playing in his first game  of the summer, walked setting up Ryan’s heroics on his 19th birthday.

The four runs were the first for the Larks since the first when they scored three on a Ryan sacrifice fly and a Sloan Soulia 2-run double. The Grays scored two in the third and one in the sixth to tie the game then took the lead in the top of the ninth on a one-out single from Josh Leo.

Ethan Lieter gave up the run in the ninth but picks up the win as the Larks improve to 22-12.

They wrap up the 2-game non-league series Sunday night at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on KAYS beginning at 6:40pm.
