A Portion of 27th Street May Change to Three Lanes

The increase in traffic and accidents has caused the Hays City Commission to again consider making 27th Street between Hall and Fort three lanes. The issue was brought up by Commissioner Henry Schwaller, who says he knows it might be a hardship for the homes along that stretch that would lose on-street parking, but the city needs to accommodate the increase in traffic.

The issue will be discussed at another work session, and property owners are invited to voice their concerns.

The commission also discussed closing off the western entrance to Dillons off of 27th due to its proximity to the intersection with Hall and the large number of accidents there.
