
The Hays Larks squander an early 3-0 lead and lose 8-4 to Dodge City Monday night at Larks Park, snapping their four-game win streak.
Sloan Soulia’s 2-run homer gave the Larks the 3-0 lead in the first inning but they wouldn’t score again until MacKenzie Handel’s RBI single in the fourth.
The A’s (18-19, 11-17 JL) came back with two in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth then two more in the eighth for the final margin.
The Larks pound out 12 hits in the game but strand ten runners including eight in scoring position.
Andrew Heck allowed five runs, four earned, on ten hits over five innings and takes the loss in his first start of the season. Cody Gougler had three hits and an RBI.
The Larks drop to 23-12 and 15-11 in the Jayhawk League where they fall a half-game behind Haysville who’s playing in the NBC Midwest Regional this week. The Larks begin their final road trip of the summer with the first of two in Liberal Tuesday night. The road swing ends with a game in Dodge City Thursday.
