The deadline for the conditional use permit for the Hays Wind project is on hold until a stay order is lifted by the court. The Ellis County Commission last year decided to wait a year before considering a request to the court to lift the order, and that year is up. County Administrator Greg  Sund says the owner of Hays Wind, Iberdrola, is still trying to secure a purchase agreement for the energy produced, but they don’t consider the project dead.

Iberdrola has renewed leases with the property owners in the project area.

The commissioners postponed a decision on requesting the stay order be lifted until next year when the new commission takes office.
