A bipartisan group of 28 governors have formed the Governors’ Wind Coalition. They are pushing for the extension of the wind energy tax credit that is set to expire at the end of the year.
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback says the industry and thousands of jobs already have been impacted by the lack of Congressional action. Brownback says a massive investment in wind energy has been made in Kansas, but without the promise of the tax credit, virtually no new wind farms are slated for construction next year.
The wind energy industry employs approximately 75,000 Americans with nearly 500 manufacturing facilities in 44 states.
