The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers used a 27-1 first half run to build a 23 point lead and go on for a 93-53 win over the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum. The win improves the Lady Tigers to 3-0 on the season and drops the Rangers, who are in their first year of transition from the NAIA to NCAA II to 0-2.
The Tigers forced 14 turnovers in the first half and hit 18-of-20 free throws to lead 48-26 at the break. FHSU finished 33-41 from the line, hitting 26 straight at one point.
Kate Lehman led the Tigers with 23 points, Melissa Nelson added 15 and Kate Edwards 14.
The Tigers shot 51-percent from the floor and outrebounded NOSU by 13.
Fort Hays State is back at home Tuesday against Newman University at 7pm.
